One person was missing from the Food Manufacture Group’s Business Leaders’ Forum, according to Joanne Denney-Finch, chief executive of grocery think tank IGD. That person was the shopper, it was claimed.

“The only person in the room who mentioned the shopper was me,” said Denney-Finch. “I think it was a great shame the shopper was not there.”

Amid all the talk of the shifting power base between retailers and their food and drink manufacturing suppliers, the real power was with the shopper, said Denney-Finch, in this exclusive video interview.

‘All shoppers are asking for is a bit of help’

“All shoppers are asking of is a bit of help and I think there are lots of things the good industry can do to help them on their way.”

Find out how Denney-Finch thought food and drink manufacturers could serve shoppers more effectively by watching this video interview.

The forum was held at the office of host sponsor law firm DWF at the Walkie Talkie building, central London on Wednesday January 20. The other sponsors of the event were ALcontrol Laboratories and insurance firm RSA.

The event was chaired by Paul Wilkinson, chair of the National Skills Academy for Food and Drink.
