Food surplus supermarket makes senior appointment
Founder and chairman John Marren said Black’s appointment comes as the organisation planned for expansion.

Community Shop was founded in 2013 by Company Shop, one of the UK’s largest redistributors of surplus food and products.
Its first stores were opened in Goldthorpe, South Yorkshire, and Lambeth in London. Community Shop opened two new stores last year in Athersley, also in South Yorkshire, and Grimsby.
It works to build stronger communities through redistributing goods, providing debt advice, advice on employability skills, and more to those in need living in deprived communities.
Commenting on his appointment, Black added: “Community Shop is an inspirational organisation run by inspirational people for inspirational communities, the latter of whom have often fallen on tough times.
“It is a privilege to work with John Marren and his team and I look forward to making a positive contribution as Community Shop continues to expand across the UK.”
