The country’s biggest converter of food waste into renewable energy Olleco has acquired a biofuel producer Convert2Green for an undisclosed sum.

British business Olleco collects used cooking oils and fats from food manufacturers and converts organic waste into renewable energy in the form of biodiesel.

Last week Olleco announced the acquisition of biodiesel producer Convert2Green, which boosts the number of its depots to 17 nationwide.

The company said it would now be able to “improve efficiencies and coverage” in order to improve the used cooking oil service offered to its customers.

A spokeswoman for Olleco said foodservice companies and manufacturers could use its services as part of their green and eco-friendly initiatives.

‘Build on strong foundation’

The company described Convert2Green’s work on producing carbon efficient fuels as an addition to its range of low carbon bio-liquid fuels.

Following the completion of the acquisition, commercial director Adam Baisley welcomed Convert2Green customers and staff to Olleco.

“We aim to build on the strong foundation the company has established and extend our reliable and award-winning services to our new customers,” Baisley said.

As well as collecting used cooking oil and food waste from companies,Olleco also distributes fresh cooking oil to the catering industry.
