Supplier moves into bakery to meet fruit demand

Milne: ‘The bakery market as a whole is shifting away from the traditional’

An Exeter-based ingredients supplier is to capitalise on the trend for new fruit flavours in products by moving into the bakery market.

Processed fruit and vegetable ingredients firm Cobell took the decision after it found increasing demand for processed fruit products for a range of bakery items.

“We’ve found the bakery market as a whole is shifting away from the traditional,” said Gordon Milne, ingredients sales director.

“Today’s consumers are not only making healthier purchase decisions but more experimental ones too.”

Cobell offers more than 370 processed fruit and vegetable ingredients and products, such as fruit juices, concentrates, purées, and natural flavours and colours.

It works with 250 suppliers worldwide.
