Sustainable snacking trends is focus of new webinar

Sustainable snacking trends for 2017 is the subject of the Food Manufacture Group’s latest free-to-attend webinar to take place at 3pm on Thursday June 15.

The one-hour online seminar – staged in partnership with the Almond Board of California (ABC) – will explore the impact and market potential of growing consumer demand for sustainable ingredients for the savoury snacks industry, estimated to be worth £2,847M in the UK alone.

Divided into three presentations – each focusing on different aspects of the healthy and sustainable snacking market – the webinar will conclude with a question-and-answer session with FoodManufacture.co.uk’s independently audited audience of 114,281 unique monthly visitors.

Three presentations

The first presentation will focus on top new snacking product trends for 2017 and beyond, and how this demonstrates the consumer demand for sustainable ingredients.

The second presentation will explore what credentials consumers look for from food ingredients, in terms of ethical and sustainable sourcing.

The third presentation will deliver insights into how the Almond Board of California is meeting the consumer demand for sustainability. The presentation will include the findings of the board’s latest research on sustainable production chains that minimise waste and maximise the efficient use of water.

Among the leading speakers taking part will be Lu Ann Williams, director of innovation at Innova Market Insights, and Danielle Veenstra, senior specialist in sustainable farming communications at the Almond Board of California.

Meanwhile, the value of the UK crisps and savoury snacks market was estimated at £2,396M last year, according to the Snack, Nut and Crisp Manufacturers Association (SNACMA).

During the year, nuts were valued at £313M, popcorn at £120M and other snack products, such as pretzels, were valued at £18M.

Savoury snack manufacturers account for about 4% of the total value of the UK food and drink manufacturing sector, according to SNACMA.
