Production continued at UB plant during £50M investment
More than £30M was spent on four of United Biscuits’ Digestive packing lines, while a further investment was made to modernise the site’s floors and ceilings, Day told FoodManufacture.co.uk in this podcast.
“We have taken four of our major lines that produce Digestives and Chocolate Digestives and installed new wrapping kit and invested just over £30M,” she said.
‘No disruption to customers’
“Our focus was ensuring there was no disruption to customer service and no loss of volume and we did that through creating an area in the factory that enclosed the production lines that we were changing.”
Big tents were used to ensure no debris or contaminants got into the rest of the factory, she added.
