Software, image processing and automation systems for tomorrow's production environments will be displayed by the CSB group at IFFA, the international meat industry trade fair, which takes place in Frankfurt from May 7 to 12.

The exhibits will be shown under the banner ‘Global IT excellence for the smart meat factory’ and anticipate the growing interest by the meat sector in Industry 4.0 the fourth industrial revolution, which brings together automated systems and IT in what is labelled the Internet of Things.

While today’s systems are still controlled from a central point, the future will be about intelligent manufacturing with communication between machines and products, says CSB. It claims its technology will manage this digital transformation.

The enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, which will also be available from the cloud, takes over a key function. Being a data management system, it not only administers master data and transaction data, but also product data, machine data and process data without any exceptions.

It is this integration of the ERP system and manufacturing execution system that smooths the transition towards an independent production facility, says CSB. It establishes the connection between business management and production control.
