Omron will formally announce its acquisition of US robot supplier Adept Technologies at the show. This expands its portfolio of products with the addition of six-axis articulated robots.

The takeover, which creates a new brand, named Omron Adept Technologies, has added 49 robots to Omron’s portfolio.

It enables the company to offer food and beverage producers all three primary classes of robots – selective compliance assembly robot arm (SCARA), delta and six-axis – together with an established global service infrastructure.

“To help our customers develop a flexible manufacturing operation, it’s vital that we offer all styles of robot and adapt each to suit a wide range of applications,” says Omron marketing manager Dan Rossek.

All 49 robots have been integrated into the machine control environment managed by Omron’s Sysmac automation platform and programming system.

Among the new stars in the range is the Quattro s650H Delta robot. The four-arm design robot is specifically designed for high-speed applications in food and drink.
