A sweeter made from a stevia leaf that contains 20 times more steviol glycosides than the standard leaf variety is now available from PureCircle.

StarLeaf means products with more upfront sweetness can be made, without any lingering bitterness, the company claims.

Part of a $100M (£78M) investment, the StarLeaf stevia leaf will now be planted across thousands of hectares in 15 stevia plant growing regions throughout the world.

“We are proud to be the first in the industry to increase the supply of these steviol glycosides in this way,” said James Foxton, vice president of agricultural operations.
