Bakkavor to hire 86 staff in recruitment drive

The site near Boston, Lincolnshire – a Bakkavor facility dedicated to manufacturing products for Marks & Spencer – has vacancies across a range of roles, including production staff, team leaders and other skilled positions.

Increase its staff by 250 people​

Last week saw Bakkavor post a number of vacancies at its Tilmanstone Salads factory in Dover and Bourne Prepared Produce plant in Lincolnshire to increase its staff by 250 people.

Tilmanstone Salads looked to recruit an extra 150 staff for a range of skilled and unskilled production roles, to add to its 870-strong workforce.

The site is one of the largest employers in Dover, which produces a range of products for Marks & Spencer – including prepared leafy salad bags, convenience salads and prepared vegetable dishes.

Bourne Prepared Produce posted 100 new vacancies for staff and team leaders. The Bourne, Lincolnshire factory currently employs 1,200 people.

Worked to meet higher demand​

Bakkavor said that it had hired an additional 1,000 new employees last year as it worked to meet higher demand from its customers. The company has more than 16,000 employees in the UK.

Last November the company posted 310 job vacancies for factory production and management roles across its sites in Lincolnshire.

It planned to recruit 100 new staff at its desserts site in Newark, 150 staff at its pizza facility in Holbeach and another 60 people at the Freshcook site in Spalding.

Bakkavor was one of a number of food companies holding a recruitment drive this month. Other manufacturers recruiting new staff were snack manufacturer Tayto group​ and meat supplier Bawnbua Foods. ​
