New Red Tractor boss is Jim Moseley

Moseley – who served as the scheme’s chairman – will replace David Clarke later this month, who is to retire after 19 years in the role.

The new chief executive brings a wealth of food industry experience to the role, including serving as General Mills UK md and sales and marketing director for meat firm Tulip.

‘Supported by the whole food chain’​

Commenting on his appointment, Moseley said: “I am delighted to be leading Red Tractor on the next phase of its development.​ David Clarke has done an outstanding job establishing and developing a comprehensive and robust assurance scheme which has been adopted and supported by the whole food chain.​

“Looking to the future and particularly the uncertainties around Brexit, we must protect and promote British agriculture by ensuring consumers and buyers understand and value the exceptionally high standards which our farmers and growers deliver.” ​

Red Tractor has more than 60,000 members and has become the UK’s leading farm assurance scheme, claimed Clarke.

“In Red Tractor, the UK farming industry has an assurance scheme that it can be really proud of,”​ he said. “Major food and drink businesses use it as an intrinsic part of their sourcing policies and it is viewed positively by consumers who say it influences their shopping decisions.​

“Establishing such a robust scheme which has to constantly evolve has not been without its challenges but I am leaving the organisation in great shape for the future.”​
