Lidl distribution centre to create 100 jobs
The new site was planned to replace the firm’s existing warehouse in Livingston, with its workforce told they could transfer to the new site.
It will help to supply the company’s 91 stores nationwide, according to Lidl.
Plans for the new 58,000m2 regional distribution centre are part of the company’s wider UK infrastructure expansion investment.
Lidl’s Scotland md Ross Millar said: “We are firmly committed to helping boost the local economy by creating new jobs through the construction of the new distribution centre.
“The team are very much looking forward to now preparing and submitting the planning application. If approved, we would hope to commence building in 2017.”
Meanwhile, Lidl employees at the company’s Bridgend distribution centre have won the right to union representation, after a “landmark” legal victory by the GMB union.
