Privately owned British Premium Meats (BPM) is reaping the benefits of a weighing and traceability system that has been fully integrated into back office software at its newly opened 2,000m2 Welwyn Garden City site.

Installed by Stevens Weighing Group, the Vantage system copes with 600 product ranges, including fresh and cooked red meats and poultry, talking across the network with BPM's Sage Line 500 package, operated by administrative staff.

For each of the factory's three product areas, Stevens designed a weighing and traceability package covering goods-in and stock release, product, and goods out. It also installed Vantage units, fully sealed to withstand regular washdowns in BPM's high health environment.

"We need to process orders quickly and accurately, including invoicing," says BPM partner Rob Hutchinson. "The Stevens system draws on real-time data from Sage and gives us a clear picture of what is going on."
