Fire crews sent to deal with spillage at Rowan Foods
The company, which makes chilled ready meals for the leading supermarkets, told FoodManufacture.co.uk that the incident had happened outside the main production area and had not impacted production.
About 75 litres of the liquid – a cleaning fluid - were spilt.
A spokeswoman for North Wales Fire and Rescue said the alert had been raised just after 9am this morning.
"Three fire engines were sent out along with our environmental protection unit. I believe that the Environment Agency is also at the scene."
She added: "The liquid was a weak acidic solution, which could possibly contain a mixture of bleach and vinegar, but this has not been confirmed."
Rowan Foods, which is part of the Oscar Mayer Group, produces about 1m ready meals a week from its factory on Ash Road South in the Wrexham Industrial Estate.
