Welsh brewer Tomos Watkin has unveiled its new brand identity after coming under new ownership in August 2023.

Founded in 1996, the Tomos Watkin brand has been revitalised under the ownership of brewing entrepreneurs Joelle and Sarah Drummond, who also established Drop Bear Beer Co in 2019.

The relaunch has aimed to serve as both a celebration of the brand’s heritage, while also looking forward to the future of Welsh beer.

Tomos Watkin’s new owners hope to introduce its range of ales and lagers to a new generation of beer drinkers, with traditional favourites such as Cwrw Haf, Blodwen and Magic Lagyr still available.

Meanwhile, Tomos Watkin has crafted new additions to its range such as Dragon’s Keep IPA and Miner’s Pride to attract new customers.

Director of sales and marketing for Tomos Watkin, Joelle Drummond, grew up in Swansea and as a result holds a lot of reverence for the brand’s history: “The inspiration behind this revitalisation has been drawn from the preferences of modern drinkers as well as successful ale brands of the past.”

“IPA and Stout have both demonstrated impressive growth over the years and we’re thrilled to add these styles to the Tomos Watkin core range, modernising the portfolio’s flavour profile and maximising sales potential.

“Tomos Watkin was one of the first beers I ever drank and I’m hoping that our hard work will breathe new life into this classic Welsh brand so that many more drinkers can enjoy it for years to come.”

The entire line up has also been adapted to make it suitable for vegans, shared director of operations and finance Sarah Drummond added: “We believe that by making the range vegan friendly, we’re ensuring the ‘Great Ales of Wales’ will be pouring for many more years to come for many more to enjoy.”
