Morrison’s Wakefield bakery has reopened, just three days after the site was ravaged by fire.

The retailer took to social networking channel Twitter to announce that the bakery has restarted production after the devastating fire last week – see full tweet below.

The retailer also thanked the West Yorkshire fire and rescue service for combating the blaze.

The blaze at the Rathbones bakery at the Wakefield 41 Industrial Estate was reported at 4:15pm on July 3. Fire fighters fought the fire through the night.

About 80% of the 7,990m2 single story factory was on fire, according to West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

A West Yorkshire police report said the fire was not being treated as suspicious.

The bakery was bought by Morrisons in 2005 from administrators KPMG for a reported £15.5M.

See the tweet from Morrisons below.

The news followed similar announcements by other food manufacturers which reported their production facilities had resumed operation after fires and floods.

Drinks manufacturer David Berryman moved to a 2296mwarehouse on the Airport Executive Park on Presidents Way, Luton on June 28.

The company’s previous factory and deep freeze warehouse were badly damaged by fire in January 2015.

In March, United Biscuits restarted full production at its factory in Carlisle, Cumbria, which was devastated by floods on December 5 2015.
