US food flavour trends for 2017

Bell looked at the top US food flavour trends for 2017

Food flavouring producer Bell Flavors & Fragrances has released its top trends for 2017, which focus heavily on ethnic foods.

Bell’s trends report looked at what flavours would be trending in the US market this year.

The six new food flavours trends featured in this photogallery are: late night Japan, Polynesian: island hopping, sleep in brunch out, the Arab world, test kitchen and united plates of America.

Knowing the food and drink trends of the US could benefit UK manufacturers, as they lose access to the EU single market of 500M consumers when article 50 is triggered.

President Donald Trump has said that the UK would be in “the front of the line” when it comes to new US trade deals, despite former president Barack Obama warning the UK would be at the back of the queue.

Meanwhile, EHL ingredients has published its top food ingredient trends for 2017, which manufacturers could use to boost demand this year.

Four key food ingredient trends would dominate 2017, predicted EHL joint md Tasneem Backhouse. These were: New food regions, Chickpeas rule the roost, Spicing up soups and Meal kits.
