Morrisons slammed for breaching groceries code
Morrisons breach of the Groceries Supply Code of Practice by overcharging suppliers takes the final spot on our list of the most popular news of 2014.
The adjudicator ruled the retailer had unilaterally overcharged 67 suppliers and therefore broken part three of the code – variation of supply agreements and terms of supply.
Morrisons claimed the payments were taken by mistake and had been repaid.
A spokeswoman for the retailer told Foodmanufacture.co.uk: “We mistakenly took payments from a small number of suppliers and these were paid back as soon as we discovered the error. We made these refunds without any prompting.”
