Little Coffee Bag Company gets big investment
Testament to the originality and creativity of entrepreneur Carrie Bate’s coffee bag company was that three Dragons were willing to invest £100,000 for a 33% stake in the business.
Bate turned down Piers Linney, who wanted to invest the full £100,000 in her The Little Coffee Bag Company, in favour of a joint agreement with Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden.
The Shropshire-based entrepreneur dreamt up the idea of a coffee bag when she was on a camping trip and wanted to make her husband a coffee without the need for a caffetiere.
Jones said: “I instantly loved it. One area this could be huge for is the hamper market. The international market place is an area to explore as well.”
The coffees are now available in Harvey Nichols, easyJet, Virgin Trains and a number of hotels.
