Coconut spread enters dairy-free market
Dairy Crest has added Vitalite Coconut to its dairy-free spread brand, hoping to capitalise on a growing trend for coconut products in the UK.
The company hoped to appeal to consumers with a dairy intolerance, as well as consumers adopting free-from products as part of a lifestyle choice.
The spread’s taste has a hint of coconut and can be used for cooking, baking or used in sandwiches and on toast.
Marketing manager Neil Stewart said: “With the recent appetite for coconut-based products showing no signs of abating, we are confident that Vitalite Coconut will deliver a great tasting new flavour profile … while helping attract new shoppers into dairy free spreads.”
